In the early days of solar landscape lighting your choices in light color came down to a variation of Henry Fords famous quote about paint options for the Model T: so long as it is black.For those ur solars, it was: Any color, so long as it is white. Sure, one could choose either cool or warm versions. But still white.This solar spot light by the Linkind brand moves well beyond those primitive days. It offers selectable colors that can change the mood of a landscape in ways early solars never could.When I ordered this unit I knew my access to the full color palette would be limited. As a smart light, unlocking all color options requires using the companion app.For reasons I will get into, that’s a nogo for me. But even with just the colors the unit can produce via simple onboard button control, this is a light that is a welcome addition to my outdoor light design.And speaking of design I will note that I have more than a passing interest in light. For a time, back in the incandescent era, I was a lighting designer. If I had, back then, lights with the color changing abilities that this one has, I would have been seen as a magician.For my now non professional home landscape lighting practice, this light offers a useful kit of tricks. I will be using it for creating a wall wash. There is a retaining wall here that is pretty faceless. Fortunately, it is not visible from too many perspectives out on the property, or from within the house.But when one does see it, well there it is. Just a wall, being a wall. My goal with this spotlight is to turn that wall into something more like a solid block of color, several colors actually, marking the landscape with a bold blast of spectrum.Tilt controls for both spotlight head, and cell if you choose to mount it separately have thumb screw tighteners that keep their set tilt angles in place without drift.Now, about the app for this product.Some people are comfortable installing any companion app that comes with a device. Others prefer to be selective. I fall into the second group.The AiDot app that unlocks the full capabilities of this light may be perfectly fine, but I generally limit app installs on my phone to brands I already know well. So for this review I stuck with the color options accessible directly from the unit s on board button.So, employing only those nine colors, the time came for showtime at the wall.The result? Some of the color choices are underwhelming. But there are enough saturated looks that have a punchy power. With a large parking lot-style solar illuminating a specimen maple in the background, it was a dramatic scene, with the solar providing good coverage across the 8 foot high, 25 foot long wall. During my photo shoot I noticed something. An FYI if this kind of visual effect is of concern to buyers. At close range, an almost imperceptible flicker was visible on the walls texture.Run time at full charge has been quite good. I am getting dusk to dawn light, here in late winter. The USB C backup charging option is a real plus, if the sun is ever not cooperating. It also allows for use of the unit as a colored light spotlight indoors, without regard for any solar charging needs.With an IP65 waterproof rating plus a sturdy build, this unit looks like it will stand the test of time on the job, painting our home landscape with color.The app-driven control capabilities come at a premium, and I didnt test the app. My evaluation is based on the onboard controls only. If you are comfortable using the companion app, it may add meaningful value by unlocking the full palette.If you are app-averse like me, it is likely there are more economical lights that offer similar onboard-controlled colors, though possibly without the USB-C option and beefy build.

So many color options!This yard light is amazing and creates so many beautiful color patterns. The materials used are top quality and it comes with a large solar panel. It also includes a longer cord if you need to place the solar panel further away from your light. I used this option and hid the cord behind some bricks and it looks nice and clean.The dimming feature is very helpful as this light can be extremely bright, it lit up the whole side of my yard. I opted to dim it quite a bit just to show the color on a wall instead of the entire yard.It was very simple to download the app and understand how to change colors and modes. The app contains several different scenes for different occasions. I chose to use pink and orange to match the other light colors in my yard.The color saturation is rich and beautiful. I've never had a solar light with this much power. The charge lasts almost through the entire night.It has different timer setting options for dusk to dawn or setting your own customized time to turn on and off.I am extremely happy with this light and plan to purchase a few more to place around my entire yard.

These are actually pretty nice solar spotlights. Setup was easy and I like that you can either stake them in the ground or mount them on a wall. The separate solar panel option is also useful because you can put the panel where it gets good sun and place the light where you actually need it.The dual light rings are a cool feature. The inner beam is more focused and the outer beam spreads wider, so you can highlight a plant or tree but still get some general yard lighting around it.The app works well and gives you a lot of control. You can change colors, brightness, and white tone, and there are a bunch of preset lighting effects. The music sync and light show features are fun if you're using them for gatherings or holidays, but you can also just leave them on a simple setting for everyday lighting.They feel solid and weather resistant. So far they've handled normal outdoor conditions without any issues.Overall these are good if you want solar lights that give you more control than the typical basic landscape lights.

There are manual controls on the unit.Build quality feels solid. The housing is high-impact plastic with a decent weather rating, so it should hold up well outdoors.This is a much more customizable solar spotlight than the typical stake it in the ground and forget it's landscape light. If you enjoy adjusting outdoor lighting for different moods, holidays, or landscaping features, the smart controls make it a fun upgrade from standard solar spotlights.

This solar spotlight is full of options and possibilities. I will admit that I ordered it mostly out of curiosity - but once I received it and started playing, I didn't stop for hours and had to show everyone!This spotlight is app controlled and cannot only produce colors but it can project themes on your wall and even respond to music. I can set timers and change effects based on that.The possibilities are (almost) endless and they just invite you to create a truly unique lighting set up.Love it!
